An abandoned dog with a crushed foot has been found outside of a cemetery. Valerie Court, the rescuer, named her Sapphire.
Valerie made the call for Sapphire’s rescue. She was just visiting but made sure that Hope for Paws would be able to help Sapphire.
It took the rescuers an hour and a half to get to her location. By the time they arrived, Valerie had already caught Sapphire on a leash. She was laying down beside Valerie when the rescuers arrived.
Valerie told the rescuers that she might have trauma because she is afraid when she hears cars coming. She could have also been in pain because of her foot because she keeps on shaking.
The rescuers tried to check if Sapphire had a microchip. Unfortunately, she did not have any.
Valerie told the rescuers that it was not tricky trying to get hold of Sapphire. The dog was friendly and seemed very hungry. Good thing that the rescuers had dog food ready for Sapphire.
Valerie also said she watched the Hope for Paws channel. This helped her understand how to make Sapphire trust her so she can put Sapphire on a leash for her rescue. The rescuers gave her the name Sapphire because of the color of her eyes.
Sapphire was then brought in for a check-up. Doctor Antonio Pedraza was the one who took care of all her needs. Sapphire had a terrible break in her foot. The X-ray showed that abandoned dog foot was in terrible condition.
For cases of a broken foot like Sapphire’s, the only way to fix it is through surgery. Surgeries like this would cost a lot. Considering the extent of Sapphire’s injuries, it would take a long time for her to recover too.
“Foxy and the Hounds” took care of finding her a right foster home. Sapphire’s foot has healed. Thanks to people’s donations to Hope For Paws, surgeries like Sapphire’s are funded.
