Some dogs take a longer time to adjust to a new environment. However, once they get more comfortable, their personality starts to come out. Here is an example of a dog who had no idea how to interact with others until he was taken in by an amazing family.
The Clement family had fostered a dog named Charlie Brown. He is a labrador that came from a puppy mill, and he seemed like he doesn’t know how to be a dog. His tail was not wagging, and he always positions himself low on the ground.
Charlie was very timid and gentle. The family was excited to see how the dog was going to change. The dog was unsure how to adjust inside a new home. Whenever Charlie would be taken out for a walk, he would lie down on the ground and refuse to move.
The family had to entice Charlie to walk. Each week, he gets braver and braver. On the twelfth day of fostering, Charlie met another dog named Belle. He doesn’t know how to interact with her, but he was calm around her.
Eventually, Charlie no longer flopped on the ground during walks. He looked happier and started to play with toys. His overall attitude changed, and he began to wag his tail.
Charlie Brown and Belle also learned to play with each other. The two rescued dogs have become very close. Finally, after a month of fostering, the Clement family decided to keep Charlie permanently.
The family could not imagine sending Charlie anywhere else. They are sure that Charlie will remain a great dog for more years to come. The labrador has learned so much while in their care. He will learn more now that he is a part of the family forever.
During the quarantine period of 2020, many families have opted to foster. Some of them decided to keep the dogs they have fostered. If there is one type of failure that is a good thing, it’s foster fail.
